The information in the Poinsettia Zone, is derived from the National Poinsettia Trials held at University of Florida, North Carolina State University. The coordinators of these trials, Drs. Jim Barrett and John Dole, respectively, have written evaluations of the cultivars with recommendations about which cultivars are right for mass or independent markets or Northern or Southern growers.

The best cultivar for an individual grower varies with location, production practices and markets. There are many poinsettia cultivars that can be grown successfully when the grower is very familiar with the cultivar and can provide the required culture for that cultivar.
